Your step-by-step guide to joining MHTI’s CNA program. We’re here to help you every step of the way.
How to Apply
Admission Process
1. Serve the Community
Complete the Application for Admission online and pay the non-refundable registration fee to begin the process.
2. Provide Required Documents
Government-issued photo ID · High school diploma or GED · Immunization records and TB test results · Physical exam within the last 12 months.
3. Complete Background Check
Submit a criminal background check within 30 days of your course start date. Results must be cleared before enrollment is finalized.
4. Receive Admission Decision
Once all requirements are met, you’ll be notified in writing. Accepted students receive a Welcome Email and Enrollment Agreement
5. Attend Orientation & Register
All new students must attend mandatory orientation before classes begin. You’ll receive your schedule, handbook, and instructions.

CNA Program Requirements
General Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Government-issued photo ID
- Immunization records and TB test
- Physical exam within the last 12 months
- Criminal background check (within 30 days of start)
- Active health insurance throughout enrollment
Entrance Exam (BSE)

Must pass the Basic Skills Entrance Examination with a score of 70% or higher. May be waived for qualifying students who meet minimum TABE requirements.

MHTI scrubs (top and pants), closed-toe shoes, visible ID badge required at all times. No nail polish, artificial nails, or strong fragrances in clinical settings.

What to Know Before You Enroll
Grading Requirements
Minimum overall grade of 80% required. All skills evaluations must be passed with 100% proficiency. Grades are not rounded.
Attendance Policy
Missing 2+ classroom days or 1+ clinical day results in dismissal. Make-up hours are available at $50/hour, paid in advance.
Leave of Absence
LOA may be granted for 1 week up to 60 calendar days within a 12-month period for medical, family, or personal circumstances.
Drug Screening
Non-negative drug test results are reported to the Clinical Site. A positive result leads to immediate program dismissal.
Withdrawal Policy
Written withdrawal request required. Withdrawals before 50% completion receive a “W” grade; after 50% may result in “WF.”
Certification Exam
The state competency exam may be taken up to 3 times within 1 year. A failed third attempt requires repeating the full program.
