About the CNA Program

This program prepares individuals to work as Nurse Aides with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for providing basic care in extended care facilities, hospitals, and home health agencies — under the direction of licensed nurses.

Students who successfully complete this course are eligible to apply to sit for the Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) certification exam.

Grading Requirements

Minimum overall grade of 80% required. All skills evaluations must be passed with 100% proficiency. Grades are not rounded.

 ✓ Explain the CNA’s role within the Interdisciplinary Team and the importance of HIPAA.

Understand and uphold Resident Rights in all care settings.

Identify and respond to abuse, neglect, and misappropriation of resident property.

Demonstrate correct handwashing and infection control practices.

Respond appropriately to emergency situations.

Correctly take and record vital signs, height, and weight.

Apply principles of body mechanics and proper positioning.

Safely transfer residents using a gait belt.

Assist residents with dressing and toileting needs.

Demonstrate proper feeding techniques and nutritional support.
